The US-led international coalition has conducted more than 4,100 airstrikes against Iraq and Syria since August 2014.

Statistics released by the Pentagon show that two-thirds of the total amount spent by the U.S. has gone into the air force.

Costs in the U.S. military campaign in Iraq have risen sharply since it began last year.

Last week, the White House announced the addition of 450 advisers to Iraq, bringing the total number of military personnel to 3,500.

However, the US emphasized that there were no combat troops involved, and their mission was to train local forces to fight.

On June 11, General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that the US could expand its military intervention in Iraq, while also stating that airstrikes remain an option in the future.

He also raised the possibility of establishing a network of American training centers in northern Iraq.
