US, North Korea hold fourth round of talks to prepare for summit

On June 3, the US and North Korea held the fourth round of expert-level talks to prepare for the summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un scheduled for June 12.

The US delegation, led by Sung Kim, US Ambassador to the Philippines, continued negotiations with the Pyongyang delegation led by North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui at the Panmunjom truce village on the border between the two Koreas.

Three previous rounds of expert-level talks between the US and North Korea also took place here on May 27, May 30 and June 2.

On June 3, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the Israeli air force hit 10 targets of the Hamas Islamist movement in the Gaza Strip in response to rockets launched from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory, just days after the two sides reached a ceasefire agreement.

According to the IDF, two of the targets were a Hamas ammunition storage and production facility and a military area.

Indonesian police's counter-terrorism unit has arrested a former student and is questioning two others after a raid on a university in the capital of Riau province on Sumatra island on June 2.

Police confiscated and neutralized four homemade bombs ready to detonate, a large amount of explosives to make bombs and many other weapons such as rifles, bows and arrows.

Dozens dead as boat sinks off Tunisia coast

Health officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo say they have detected five more suspected cases of Ebola as the deadly disease spreads in the country's northwest.
