According to the official, the schedule for mutual visits by US and Chinese ships in November and December, as well as a visit to China by senior US Navy officials in the coming weeks, will still go ahead as planned.
Mr. Richardson and Mr. Ngo Thang Loi had an online meeting via television that lasted more than 1 hour after the US warship USS Lassen entered the 12-nautical mile area around the artificial islands that China illegally built in the East Sea on October 27.
Previously, Chinese media reported on October 29 that Commander of the US Pacific Command (PACOM), Admiral Harry Harris, will visit China next week.
China Daily commented that Mr. Harris's upcoming visit to China could become an opportunity to help the two sides enhance mutual understanding./.
