Norway wants to send Syrian refugees back to Russia
(Baonghean.vn) - On October 15, Norwegian authorities said that next week, they want to send asylum seekers from Syria back to Russia - where these people lived before coming to Norway.
Through NRK, Norwegian Justice Minister Anders Anundsen said that many migrants had lived in Russia for a while and had become a part of it before deciding to cross the border at Storskog to Norway. According to Mr. Anders Anundsen, these people were not fleeing war or poverty, deprivation.

“These people are safe in Russia,” said Minister Anders Anundsen, who hails from the anti-immigration Progress party. “We have also reached an agreement with Russia to send them back and now we have to use it.”
Previously, on October 14, Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende also had a phone call to discuss this topic with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
According to statistics, in 2015 alone, about 1,200 people migrated to Norway via Russia. This number is many times larger than the few dozen cases recorded in 2014. It is known that the migration route of refugees to Europe via Russia is longer but it is safer than going through the Mediterranean.
