Nadal has dropped to his lowest ranking in over 10 years.
The results at Roland Garros significantly altered the rankings for both men and women, including a considerable setback for former champions Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova.
Stanislas Wawrinka's victory added nearly 2000 points to his total accumulated points, allowing the Swiss player to make a spectacular leap from ninth to fourth place. Thus, since failing to defend his title at the Australian Open, it took Wawrinka four months to return to a position in the top four of the world men's tennis rankings.
In contrast to Wawrinka's rise, Rafael Nadal continues his freefall in the ATP rankings. After being pushed out of the top five for the first time in 10 years – dropping to seventh place – his early exit at Roland Garros has further darkened Nadal's future. According to the latest rankings, the "King of Clay" has hit rock bottom in the current top 10, overtaken by players like Marin Cilic and Milos Raonic.
The remaining positions in the top 10 remain largely unchanged. If Nadal continues to perform poorly as he is currently doing, his potential drop out of the top 10 will soon become a reality, as the gap between him and the player ranked immediately behind him, Dimitrov, is now only 170 points.

Nadal and Sharapova are going through difficult times. |
Although not experiencing a significant drop like Nadal, Maria Sharapova is also not happy with her current fourth place in the latest WTA rankings. Petra Kvitova has taken her place. Both were eliminated in the fourth round of Roland Garros, but Masha's points deduction for failing to defend her title significantly improved her ranking, placing her behind only Serena Williams.
The highlight of this ranking is Lucie Safarova, who unexpectedly finished second at Roland Garros, jumping from 13th to 7th. This is also Safarova's highest career ranking, as her previous best was 11th in the world.
Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard, after more than a year on the list, is no longer among the top 10 female tennis players – she has dropped to 11th place. Conversely, Serena Williams remains comfortably in the world number one position, far ahead of her closest competitor by nearly 5000 points.
A series of upheavals have occurred following just one Grand Slam, and these changes will undoubtedly make the competition for a spot at the WTA Championship in Singapore or the ATP World Tour Finals in London even more intense. The clay court season has ended, and players have entered a new grass court season with tournaments preparing for Wimbledon, which will begin on June 29th.
