In 2015, the Red Cross movement raised nearly 2 billion VND.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 22nd, the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society held a conference to summarize the work of the society and the Red Cross movement in 2015, and to implement tasks for 2016.

Attending the conference were Comrade Hoang Viet Duong – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives from the Provincial Party Committee's departments, along with a large number of officials, staff, and volunteers of the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society.

In 2015, humanitarian activities continued to be implemented extensively and effectively, contributing to the spread of the Association's movement among the people. Accordingly, the organization of the Association continued to be strengthened and consolidated; emergency relief and humanitarian assistance were carried out promptly, contributing to the successful implementation of social security policies.

Ms. Nguyen Luong Hong, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society, assessed the situation of the society's work and the Red Cross movement in 2015.

One of the highlights of the Association's work in 2015 was the development of its external relations and resource mobilization activities. The campaign to build the humanitarian fund at all three levels continued to be implemented. To date, most wards and communes have operational funds. In 2015, the Association actively mobilized resources, reaching nearly 2 billion VND.

Some of the Association's movements, campaigns, and models, such as: Tet for the Poor and Victims of Agent Orange; Cattle Bank – Joining forces with people in poor districts and border communes to build new rural areas; Humanitarian medical examination and treatment, community health care… have achieved practical and profound results, attracting increasingly large participation from organizations, philanthropists, and all strata of people. The total value of the Association's activities throughout the province and mobilized resources in 2015 reached over 26 billion VND.

Besides the outstanding results, the conference also assessed some shortcomings in the activities such as: the advisory work and coordination with departments, agencies, and organizations at some levels of the Association are still limited; the Association's organization in many places is not truly solid, and its activities are still weak...

At the conference, the Provincial Red Cross Society approved its work program and Red Cross movement plan for 2016. The focus was on organizing successful Red Cross congresses at all levels; promoting voluntary blood donation and community health care; and organizing successful humanitarian fundraising events…

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoang Viet Duong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the achievements of the Association in the past period. He affirmed that, with dedication, enthusiasm, and responsibility, members of the Red Cross at all levels have successfully implemented tasks, affirming the role and position of the Association in social life. In the coming time, the Association at all levels needs to strengthen its adherence to the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, put activities into practice and continuously improve quality; proactively do a good job in foreign affairs, mobilize resources, and connect with non-governmental organizations…

Comrade Hoang Viet Duong presented certificates of commendation from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society to collectives and individuals.

Representatives of the district's Red Cross groups received certificates of commendation from the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society.

On this occasion, 31 collectives and 32 individuals received commendations from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society; 52 collectives and 46 individuals received commendations from the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society.
