In 2019, what should I invest in to get high profits?
According to financial and banking expert Nguyen Tri Hieu, 2019 is a year in which the financial market is expected to continue to have many fluctuations, so we should not "put all our eggs in one basket".
2018 was a year of volatility and unpredictability in the world and domestic financial markets. In 2019, economic experts believe that these fluctuations will become more unpredictable, so choosing a safe and profitable investment channel is a problem that makes many investors "hesitate".
Finance and banking expert Nguyen Tri Hieu has some suggestions and recommendations for investors this year.
Bank savings and foreign currency investment
According to economic expert Nguyen Tri Hieu, in 2018, saving money in banks is still the safest investment channel, although the profit level is not breakthrough.
Bank deposits are always guaranteed, the State Bank system (SBV) has solutions to manage the operations of banks, so the bankruptcy of a bank will not happen. Therefore, currently, banks are still a "safe haven" for cash flows. In particular, at present and in the coming months, deposit interest rates are still high, if deposited for more than 1 year, there are still banks maintaining an interest rate of 7-8%.

Regarding the foreign currency channel, according to Dr. Hieu, in 2018, although USD interest rates in the world market continuously increased, at Vietnamese banks, USD deposit interest rates were 0. If holding USD, this is not a good profitable channel. Therefore, holding foreign currency is considered a "lesser" investment channel than saving in banks in 2018.
Entering 2019, this expert believes that people should not hold USD, because this currency is expected to have negative developments. Moreover, this is a market where only experts and professional investors should invest money in foreign currencies. In particular, the law does not allow foreign currency trading.
“With fluctuations in the world market and the possibility of further devaluation of the yuan, the exchange rate may be affected. Foreign currency is the channel with the worst forecasts and investors need to be very cautious,” Mr. Nguyen Tri Hieu advised.
Gold, real estate: The choice of many investors
With the gold investment channel, in 2018, this market was quite quiet, investors holding gold made almost no profit.
However, in 2019, Dr. Nguyen Tri Hieu believes that gold will be an investment channel that brings quite high profits. Because in the context of the current volatile and unpredictable world financial market, gold will be considered a safe "shelter" for investors.
“According to forecasts, gold prices will tend to increase this year, however, this is a very unpredictable market, so we need to closely monitor market developments. If you invest in gold, you should only invest a portion of your money and not “put all your eggs in one basket,” said Dr. Hieu.

Dr. Hieu commented that in 2019, the real estate market will be under a lot of pressure. |
With real estate investment channel,Dr. Hieu commented that in 2019, the real estate market will be under a lot of pressure. That is the pressure from the real estate credit tightening policy of the banking industry when the ratio of short-term capital for medium and long-term loans is only 40% instead of 45% as in 2018, while the risk coefficient for real estate business loans increases to 200%.
Thus, the outstanding real estate loans of banks will be narrowed, and access to credit capital for real estate projects will be more difficult. In addition, the State also has a policy of tightening planning, land use plans, and investment projects, making it likely that real estate supply, especially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, will not be able to increase as high as in previous years.
“Real estate will still be a profitable channel if investors choose the right segment. This market will continue to grow strongly, but we need to see which segments are growing and which segments are likely to have oversupply,” said expert Nguyen Tri Hieu.
Stocks: Optimistic but Cautious
In 2018, stocks were one of the channels that experienced many "ups and downs" with unpredictable fluctuations. At the beginning of the year, the market developed strongly andContinuously conquering new heights, the VN-Index from below 1,000 points reached a peak of 1,200 points in mid-April.
However, after that, from this peak, VN-Index plummeted. There were sessions when this index lost more or less 100 points. Banking stocks, which were the driving force of the market, many stocks plummeted. There were stocks that lost nearly half of their value in the last months of 2018.
In 2019, many experts have quite optimistic opinions about the stock market. According to a survey by international financial news agency Bloomberg, according to the forecast of 9 experts, investors and strategists of this site, the VN-Index is estimated to increase to 1,049 points on average by the end of December 2019, equivalent to an increase of 18% for the whole year.

In 2019, many experts had quite optimistic comments about the stock market. |
“This year there will be many fluctuations in the stock market as well as the world financial system due to the impacts of the US-China trade war, and Brexit, which will partly affect the world stock market. This can cause foreign investors to “put in - withdraw”, creating risks for domestic investors. I think the stock market will not be a good choice for amateur investors this year,” said Mr. Nguyen Tri Hieu.
In 2019, the business environment may have more potential risks than in 2018. Those risks come from economic, trade, commercial, political, and military events and crises globally, affecting the world economic situation and impacting the Vietnamese economy.
For investors, the most important issue is to closely monitor the macro-economic markets. When investing, you should not put all your eggs in one basket. If you have money, you can divide it into 1/3 to deposit in the bank, 1/3 to invest in real estate, and 1/3 to buy gold... You should allocate the investment amount so that if one channel has risks, the other channel can compensate./.
