(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 18th, under the chairmanship of Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee held a meeting of the Internal Affairs sector to hear reports on the situation and results of work in April and to set directions for tasks in May 2014. Also attending were Comrades: Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Thai Van Hang - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Overall, in April, agencies within the internal affairs sector performed quite effectively in crime prevention and control, social vices, inspection, investigation, prosecution, trial, execution of judgments, and legal education and dissemination. The situation regarding crime and violations of social order, economic, environmental, and traffic accidents decreased compared to March 2014. Law enforcement agencies implemented many effective measures to combat and prevent crime. However, in some areas, such as drug-related crimes and gambling, there was a significant increase compared to the previous month. Law enforcement agencies detected and arrested 74 cases/113 individuals involved in drug-related crimes, an increase of 38 cases/71 individuals compared to the previous month; and detected and arrested 81 cases/383 individuals involved in gambling, seizing 519 million VND.
Regarding the land clearance work for the upgrading and expansion project of National Highway 1A passing through Nghe An province, in accordance with the conclusions of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee at the March 2014 meeting of the Internal Affairs Bloc, the departments within the Internal Affairs Bloc have coordinated with functional units and the People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns to accelerate the land clearance process in a decisive, strict, and lawful manner. To date, 73.3km out of 73.8km have been handed over, reaching 99.3%.
Concluding the conference, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee acknowledged the achievements of the agencies in the province's internal affairs sector and requested that in the coming period, the internal affairs sector should proactively grasp the situation and developments, promptly advise on resolving emerging issues; continue to monitor, classify, and handle cases and incidents; resolve complex and protracted complaints and denunciations; effectively implement the Resolutions and Directives of the Party and the laws of the State on internal affairs and anti-corruption work; and proactively advise the Party Committee and the government on leadership and direction to ensure security, order, and social safety.
