Male worker gives girlfriend 70 million VND after robbing bank

On January 26, Vu Thu District Police, Thai Binh Province prosecuted and arrested Le Van Can (50 years old, Kieu Moc village, Tu Tan commune) to investigate the act of robbery.
15 hours after he robbed money at Agribank Vu Tien branch (Vu Thu district), authorities caught Can thanks to security camera images, motorbike characteristics and escape route.
Major Bui Tien Truong (Chief of Vu Thu District Police) said Can had no criminal record and worked as a worker at Phuc Khanh Industrial Park in Thai Binh City. The suspect was divorced and recently had a relationship with an Internet cafe owner in Hong Phong Commune.
At the end of 2018, Cam borrowed 70 million VND for spending, of which 50 million VND was borrowed from a financial services and business company. With the creditor sending people to collect the debt, Can had the idea of robbing a bank.
After a week of searching for a location and learning how to approach on the Internet, Can bought pepper spray and gloves, and chose the "target" as the Agribank transaction office about 12 km from his house. On the morning of January 23, Can borrowed his girlfriend's motorbike, removed the license plate, and entered the bank pretending to be a customer.
Seeing only two female customers at the counter, he pulled out a machete to threaten them and used pepper spray to attack them. Jumping into the counter, Can grabbed a stack of 210 million VND, turned to the door and rode away on his motorbike.
Hearing the sound of "robbery", the locals and a group of traffic police patrolling by chased after the robbers but couldn't catch up.
Can hid 120 million VND in his private home, paid off 2 million VND in debt, bought a new motorbike and gave his girlfriend 70 million VND. At night, Can went to work the night shift as usual.
According to authorities, when initially summoned, Can denied being the perpetrator of the robbery at the Agribank branch in Vu Tien commune. Currently, nearly 200 million VND has been recovered.
