Nam Dan: Successful destruction of a 400kg bomb.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 14, 2015, the Military Command of Nam Dan district, in coordination with the Engineering Corps of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command, successfully destroyed a bomb weighing nearly 400kg at the shooting range in Nam Thanh commune, Nam Dan district.

The bomb was discovered by the Nghe An Power Company on the afternoon of June 13, 2015, while they were constructing the foundation for upgrading the high-voltage power line in Hamlet 4, Khanh Son Commune (Nam Dan District). After discovering the bomb, the district's military command transported it to the Nam Thanh commune shooting range, where it was placed under strict security. The bomb, manufactured by the US, is 2 meters long, 40 centimeters in diameter, and weighs 400 kilograms. It was dropped by the US military in the area between 1968 and 1972.

Before the bomb was destroyed, the district military command sent a notice to households near the bomb disposal site, informing them to avoid traveling within a 6km radius to ensure safety. The bomb was destroyed according to proper technical procedures, ensuring safety in all aspects.
