Nam Dan: Scholarships awarded to 55 underprivileged, academically优秀 students.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 1st, the Nam Dan District Education Promotion Association held a ceremony to award scholarships under the "Acting for Dreams" program for 2014 to 55 underprivileged and academically excellent students in the district.

Representatives from the Nam Dan district leadership directly presented 55 scholarships to 55 underprivileged students with excellent academic achievements from primary to high school levels in the area, totaling 20 million VND.

This amount was donated by the "Act for Dreams" Scholarship Fund, organized by Vietnam Prosperity Bank (PVBank) in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Promotion Fund.

It is known that the "Action for Dreams" scholarship will award 297 scholarships worth 100 million VND to students in 5 districts of the province, including Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Con Cuong, Yen Thanh and Nam Dan.

On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Huy Huong, Chairman of the Veterans Association of Nam Dan district, also donated money from his family's savings through the district's Education Promotion Association to award 5 scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have excelled in their studies.

Also on the afternoon of October 1st, the Nam Dan District Association for the Promotion of Learning held a preliminary review of the 11th "Month of the Promotion of Learning" in 2014. As a result, during the 11th Month of the Promotion of Learning, the Nam Dan District Association for the Promotion of Learning admitted 873 new members, bringing the total number of members in the district to 34,271; and established 14 additional committees for the promotion of learning in various clans, agencies, and units.

In communes, towns, agencies, units, and district associations, nearly 700 million VND has been mobilized. From this scholarship fund, the associations at all levels have awarded prizes and scholarships to 10,827 students and 1,187 teachers, totaling over 850 million VND.

Localities and units that performed well in the 11th "Month of Promoting Learning" include: Kim Lien, Nam Cat, Khanh Son, Xuan Hoa, Nam Trung, Nam Xuan; the district police, the agricultural supplies station, the district health center, and the Nam Dan district general hospital….
