Nam Dan: Awarding scholarships to 55 students who overcome difficulties and study well

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 1, the Nam Dan District Association for the Promotion of Education held a ceremony to award the 2014 "Action for Dreams" scholarships to 55 students who overcame difficulties and excelled in their studies in the area.

Representatives of Nam Dan district leaders directly awarded 55 scholarships to 55 poor students who overcame difficulties to study well from primary to high school in the area with a total amount of 20 million VND.

Students receive Action for Dreams scholarships

This is the amount of money from the "Action for Dreams" Scholarship Fund organized by Vietnam Prosperity Bank (PVBank) in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Promotion Fund.

It is known that the Action for Dreams scholarship will award 297 scholarships worth 100 million VND to students from 5 districts in the province including: Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Con Cuong, Yen Thanh and Nam Dan.

On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Huy Huong - Chairman of the Nam Dan District Veterans Association also used his family's savings through the District Education Promotion Association to award 5 scholarships to students with difficult circumstances to excel in their studies.

Also on the afternoon of October 1, the Nam Dan District Association for the Promotion of Education held a preliminary summary of the 11th "Month of Promotion of Education" in 2014. As a result, in the 11th month of promotion of education, the Nam Dan District Association for the Promotion of Education admitted 873 new members, bringing the total number of members in the district to 34,271; and established 14 more committees for the promotion of education in clans, agencies, and units.

In communes, towns, agencies, units and district associations, nearly 700 million VND has been mobilized. From the scholarship fund, associations at all levels have awarded and granted scholarships to 10,827 students and 1,187 teachers with a total amount of over 850 million VND.

Localities and units that have successfully implemented the 11th "Month of Learning Promotion" include: Kim Lien, Nam Cat, Khanh Son, Xuan Hoa, Nam Trung, Nam Xuan; district police, agricultural supplies station, district medical center, Nam Dan district general hospital, etc.
