Male accountant prosecuted for tax evasion of nearly 80 billion at 3 companies
Although he knew that the businesses were selling imported products to individuals, Hoang legalized the sale to a company to avoid paying taxes. The Quang Tri Provincial Tax Department concluded that the three related companies had evaded nearly 80 billion VND in taxes.
On August 16, the Investigation Agency of Quang Tri Province Police issued a decision to prosecute a case related to tax evasion at 3 LLCs headquartered in Lao Bao and Hai Lang communes. At the same time, it issued a decision to prosecute and issue an arrest warrant for Nguyen Khuong Hoang (born in 1976), residing in Block 3B, Khe Sanh commune, for tax evasion.
Accordingly, in 2022, the Investigation Agency verified the tax evasion case that occurred at Tan Trieu T&P Company Limited, Nam Xuan Duc village, Lao Bao commune and determined that the company's accountant, Nguyen Khuong Hoang, provided accounting services to many other businesses related to the import and trade of live animals such as buffalo, cows, and pigs, showing signs of violating the law on taxes and invoices.

During the investigation, the Investigation Security Agency of Quang Tri Province Police prosecuted 3 cases of "Tax evasion" occurring at 79 Thinh Phat Company Limited, Nam Xuan Duc village; LB Phu Trong Company Limited, Trung Chin hamlet (both in Lao Bao commune) and Giang Hien Quang Tri Company Limited, Long Hung village, Hai Lang commune.
According to regulations, enterprises and cooperatives that pay value added tax (VAT) according to the deduction method and sell unprocessed agricultural, livestock, aquatic and seafood products to other enterprises and cooperatives at the commercial stage do not have to declare; calculate and pay VAT; and sell to other entities such as households, business individuals and other organizations and individuals must declare and calculate and pay VAT at a tax rate of 5%.
Although he knew that the above businesses sold imported products to individuals, Nguyen Khuong Hoang legalized the sale to companies to avoid paying taxes by instructing the businesses to sign sales contracts, issuing fake invoices to the companies, and recording a 0% tax rate.
Then, Hoang used the payment vouchers to record the payment on behalf of the company for accounting and tax declaration.
Quang Tri Province Tax Department concluded that 79 Thinh Phat Company Limited evaded more than 47.3 billion VND in taxes, LB Phu Trong Company Limited evaded nearly 32 billion VND in taxes, and Giang Hien Quang Tri Company Limited evaded 303 million VND in taxes.
The case is still under further investigation.
