Suspect Nguyen Huu Dung stole the owner's truck, hid it, then hired someone to cut and destroy the vehicle into parts to sell as scrap.

On the afternoon of August 23, Thach That District Police (Hanoi) announced that they had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Nguyen Huu Dung (born in 1985), in Phung Minh Commune, Ngoc Lac District, Thanh Hoa Province, to investigate the act of "Theft of property”.

In mid-July 2023, the police received a report from Mr. H. (in Huu Bang commune, Thach That district) about the theft of a crane truck parked in front of the company, the vehicle was worth about 400 million VND. Upon receiving the information, the police promptly began investigating and tracking down the subject.

Using professional measures, the police force clarified and arrested suspect Nguyen Huu Dung, an employee of Mr. H's company.

Accordingly, in March 2023, Mr. H. hired Mr. PVP (born in 1992, in Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa province) and Nguyen Huu Dung as crane truck drivers to transport goods. To facilitate the work, Mr. H. handed over the keys and documents of the vehicles to Mr. P. for management.

Because he needed money for personal expenses, Dung came up with the idea of ​​stealing a truck with a crane, license plate 29C-737.60, from Mr. H.

At around 11:00 a.m. on July 13, Dung and Mr. P. came home from work, parked the crane truck in front of the company in Thach Xa commune, and then left.

On the same day, Dung took a taxi from the beginning of Thang Long Avenue to Huu Bang commune, then got out of the car and walked along the edge of the rice field, wearing a raincoat that he had prepared in advance to the front door of the company where the truck was parked.

Then, Dung took a metal bar to break the passenger side window, opened the door, and started the car; the vehicle registration was left on the vehicle. At this time, a security guard from the company on patrol discovered the incident and shouted. Dung immediately drove away.

The subject took the car to hide in an empty lot at the foot of Thang Long Bridge, then took the vehicle registration and went to his rented room in Thai Hoa village, Binh Phu commune, Thach That district.

The following evening, Dung drove to a scrap metal store in Hai Boi Commune, Dong Anh District, and sold 3 crates and 2 hand-lift trucks for 1.3 million VND. Dung then drove the car to hide under Thang Long Bridge.

On the evening of July 15, Dung hired a man for 400,000 VND to go to a scrap metal store to borrow an air tank and then take it under Thang Long Bridge where the car was hidden to cut the body and remove the crane. Dung broke apart the parts of the crane truck and sold them for scrap metal for more than 25 million VND.

According to the asset valuation conclusion of the Asset Valuation Council in criminal proceedings of Thach That district, Mr. H's crane truck is worth 390 million VND, in addition, 2 hand-held forklifts are worth 2 million VND.
