Avian influenza virus can enter our country through poultry and smuggled poultry products and be transmitted to humans. |
The first:Have a specific plan for disease prevention and control, mobilize the entire political system to carry out disease prevention and control work. Strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 1475/CD-BNN-TY dated February 17, 2017 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development on strengthening measures to prevent A/H7N9 influenza virus and other strains of influenza virus from entering Vietnam.
Focus on inspecting and handling poultry of unknown origin at small poultry trading, transporting and trading establishments, wholesale markets, especially in border areas and border gates. Strictly handle violations of disease prevention and control hygiene procedures. Localities establish interdisciplinary inspection teams to mobilize forces to inspect the implementation of disease prevention and control work down to the villages to create synchronization from all levels, sectors to the people.
Monday:Implement disease surveillance well to all livestock facilities and villages. Pay attention to taking samples for disease surveillance in places with large numbers of poultry, concentrated livestock areas, poultry wholesale markets, high-risk areas, and old outbreaks.

Avian influenza is caused by a virus. This is an acute infectious disease that spreads rapidly and has a very high mortality rate (100%). |
Tuesday:Vaccinate poultry and disinfect the environment to proactively create immunity for poultry and clean the environment to prevent pathogens from entering.
Localities have successfully implemented the general environmental disinfection campaign launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development from February 20 to March 20, 2017. They have done a good job of disseminating the benefits of general environmental disinfection so that livestock farmers can proactively apply it and work with local authorities to clean up the environment.
Wednesday:Improve propaganda work on measures to prevent A/H7N9 influenza. Focus on propaganda so that people, livestock farmers, and consumers clearly understand avian influenza, A/H7N9 influenza, the level of danger, spread, carriers, and impacts on humans according to FAO recommendations.
Provide adequate and appropriate propaganda so that people can proactively apply disease prevention measures while still ensuring production development, using poultry as food with clear origin, not panicking, not turning away from poultry meat so that the poultry farming industry can continue to develop stably.
Thursday:To improve the capacity of the veterinary sector, localities proactively develop plans to strengthen training for veterinary staff, especially the veterinary network at the commune and ward level, to proactively apply technical measures to prevent epidemics and be ready to respond when an epidemic occurs. Invest in specialized equipment and machinery for the veterinary sector to effectively carry out vaccination, disinfection, and general environmental disinfection. Directly guide livestock farmers to apply technical measures in disease prevention. Collect statistics, report, monitor epidemics, promptly handle epidemic prevention situations right at the grassroots level.
The above five groups of solutions, when focused and directed by localities in a synchronous manner, will certainly prevent the A/H7N9 flu from occurring in poultry and humans in Vietnam.
