Vinh University male student donates blood 5 times a year

(Baonghean.vn) - After more than 1 year of studyingbut has donated blood 5 times. Huy is one of two Vinh University students to receive a certificate of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union.

After more than 1 year studying at the Faculty of Information Technology of Vinh University, in addition to the daily study of a student, as a member of the Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Volunteer Student Team of Vinh University, Bui Xuan Huy from Thanh My commune (Thanh Chuong) regularly actively participates in exam support activities, charity programs in remote areas... Notably, in humanitarian blood donation activities, Huy is considered one of the students who have donated blood the most times. In the past year, Huy has donated blood 5 times, including 2 times at school, 2 times in emergency to save people and 1 time at the Spring Festival.

On average, Huy donates blood every 3 to 4 months. Huy is also one of the few students at Vinh University who donates blood again.

Huy is actively involved in propaganda and mobilization of humanitarian blood donation in Nghe An region as well as nationwide, volunteering in more than 30 voluntary blood donation programs nationwide. Together with other volunteers, Huy has actively mobilized hundreds, thousands of people to participate in voluntary blood donation through these programs.

Notably, Huy is one of 130 volunteers participating in the National Red Journey volunteer campaign in 2016. This is a national cross-country blood donation campaign directed by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation with the sponsorship of central ministries and agencies. This campaign stopped in 27 provinces and cities across the country and collected 24,000 voluntary blood units.

Bui Xuan Huy shared, “Since becoming a volunteer for the Red Journey campaign, doctors have told me about the benefits of donating blood to the community. Especially with the current blood shortage, donating blood to save someone’s life is something I care about very much. And that’s why I like to donate blood.”

With his active activities, Huy was awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union for his outstanding achievements in the work of the Union and the youth movement in 2016; the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion awarded him a certificate of merit for his outstanding achievements in organizing the "Red Journey" in 2016...
