Vinh University male student covers Son Tung M-TP's hit song causing a stir

(Baonghean.vn) - A second-year student at Vinh University covered the hit song “Noi Nay Co Anh” by Son Tung M-TP. When uploaded online, the clip created a fever in the online community.

That is Nguyen Hoang Kien (born in 1997, permanent resident of Nghi Hai ward, Cua Lo town). Kien is currently a 2nd year student - Faculty of Information Technology, Vinh University.

Recently, during a picnic with Bosse English Club, Hoang Kien was very confident when covering the song "Noi nay co anh" by male singer Son Tung M-TP in front of hundreds of club members, friends and passersby who stopped to watch.

While Hoang Kien was singing, one of Kien’s friends accidentally recorded the video and uploaded it to the English Club’s Facebook page. Immediately, Kien’s cover video of “Noi Nay Co Anh” attracted tens of thousands of views as well as hundreds of comments and shares.

The sweet voice that the online community compared to singer Son Tung's voice, along with Hoang Kien's gentle, confident and somewhat simple performance, received many compliments. Even the "difficult" rap part was performed by Kien very accurately to both music and lyrics. The compliments included "handsome and a good singer", "I admit he sings really well, I wonder if Son Tung sings live as well as this", ...

Hoang Kien has loved singing since he was a child. Although he was not born into an artistic family, Kien was gifted with a pleasant, easy-to-listen voice. The school's art programs often featured this coastal boy. And of course, he always received compliments from his friends.

In the 2016 "Duet Peak" contest organized by the Faculty of Information Technology, Vinh University, Kien and his partner won third prize.

Sharing with Nghe An Newspaper, Hoang Kien said: "I was really surprised to receive so much praise and support from my friends when I heard Kien sing." Kien shared that after the clip "This place has you" appeared online, Kien's personal Facebook page was continuously "suspended". In less than 24 hours, up to 300 Facebookers sent friend requests as well as messages of praise to Hoang Kien.

Although he loves singing, Kien still wants to pursue his chosen field of study in the future. However, he will not hesitate if he has the opportunity to try his hand at singing competitions on television, such as The Voice, Vietnam Idol...
