With his passion, Lo Duc Manh, from the mountainous district of Que Phong (Nghe An) has "fallen in love" with the subject of History.Born in a particularly disadvantaged district in the 30a area, more than 200km from Vinh City, Lo Duc Manh's learning conditions were not as favorable as those of his friends in the lowlands. In addition, his family's circumstances were also difficult. Manh's father was a teacher in the border commune of Tri Le, and his mother was also a teacher at a school nearly 10km from home.

Due to work circumstances, both parents are in different places so they don't have much time to remind their children about their studies, but when they were in primary and secondary school in Que Phong, Manh was always diligent and achieved high academic results.

At primary school, Manh won the title of excellent student at the district level in Mathematics; at secondary school, Manh won second prize in History in the district excellent student competition, then rose to win first prize in the provincial excellent student competition in History. In the 2013-2014 school year, Manh became the valedictorian of the History class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

At the high school with a rich tradition, Manh was cared for by experienced teachers and lived up to expectations, continuously achieving many high achievements in his studies. In the 2015-2016 school year, Lo Duc Manh was the only male student in the team participating in the National History Competition and that year won Second Prize.

Lo Duc Manh shared: “To study History well, you must have passion, pay attention to the lectures in class, study again at home, if you don’t understand something, read more documents and books, if it’s too difficult, ask the teacher. To have the achievements like today, it is partly due to my passion for History, but the person I am always grateful for guiding me on the path of learning is Ms. Dang Thi Quynh Nga - my homeroom teacher. She is the one who gave me strength, equipped me with knowledge about History as well as in life…”
