7th grade boy reported being kidnapped after giving directions to a stranger

On the afternoon of March 1, Hai Lang District Police (Quang Tri) said that the story of a 7th grade boy being kidnapped and driven nearly 100km was determined to be untrue. "He made up the story because he was afraid of being scolded," said Colonel Tran Duc Trieu, Chief of Hai Lang District Police.

Two days ago, authorities received a report from Mr. Hung's family that his son was controlled by a stranger with a knife, tied to a motorbike, and taken nearly 100 km to Phu Loc district (Thua Thien - Hue).

Through investigation, Hai Lang authorities determined that on the morning of February 24, Mr. Hung's son had no school schedule but played video games from morning to noon. When he returned home, his father scolded and threatened to beat him, so he took a phone, a set of clothes, and a school bag and rode his bicycle south.

The 7th grade boy planned to cycle to Quang Ngai province to apply for vocational training and find a job. At 8 p.m. that same day, hungry and tired, he made up a story about being kidnapped and called home to inform them so they could pick him up. The boy hid his bicycle behind the Phu Loc District Veterinary Station./.
