Male student extorts money from girls using clips and 'nude photos'
Luring girls to take nude photos and videos to participate in a lipstick-for-gifts program, a 22-year-old male student used these photos and videos to blackmail the victims.
On October 13, the Investigation Police Agency of Thu Duc City Police (HCMC) is expanding the investigation and searching for victims in the case of property extortion committed by Doan Thai An (22 years old, from Soc Trang, student).
According to initial investigation, from around June 2022 to November 10, 2022, An used a Facebook account named "Luong Thuy", using a female avatar to make friends with female Facebook accounts.
An then asked these people to join the "give lipstick and exchange gifts" program and sent them instructions on how to participate, including "scan your body in a nude state" via video call on Zalo and take nude photos in different poses.
To reassure the girls, An promised to only scan their bodies and not save or reveal any images or clips to the public, and that if anyone who registered to participate in the program left halfway through, they would have to pay compensation.
Some victims agreed to participate and made a Zalo video call to scan their bodies in a nude state, taking nude photos and sending them to An. An then used these videos and nude photos to threaten the girls to send money, otherwise he would spread them on social networks or send them to relatives.
During the investigation, the police determined that An used two e-wallet accounts under the names Nguyen Thi Phuong Uyen and Cao Thi Xuan Hong (both residing in Ea Dar commune, Ea Kar district, Dak Lak province) to receive money extorted from the victims.
The Investigation Police Agency of Thu Duc City Police requested Nguyen Thi Phuong Uyen, Cao Thi Xuan Hong and the victims of Doan Thai An to come to the headquarters to report and provide information to serve the investigation and handling.
