(Baonghean.vn) - Surpassing more than 1.6 million students nationwide, Ngo Sy Quoc Khanh won third prize at the contest "Youth studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style". He is also the only contestant from Nghe An to participate in this year's contest.

Love history from family tradition

Ngo Sy Quoc Khanh is currently studying in class 12C2 - History class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. Many students choose History as their second choice, but for Khanh, this is a passion and a completely correct decision. 3 years ago, Khanh also passed the History class with the position of Second Place, a rare result that few male students can achieve.

Talking about his love for History, Khanh said that it partly comes from family tradition. Because in his family, both his grandfather and grandmother, and his mother, are History teachers. His maternal grandparents are veterans, so since he was little, he often heard them tell many stories about their years in the army and participating in the resistance war.

Because of his love for History, during his junior high school years, although he was a student who studied both natural and social subjects and was selected for the Literature team, he suddenly “changed” to History in the 9th grade. However, Khanh still won third place in the city in round 1, achieved the highest score in round 2 and was selected to compete in the province.

Entering Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Khanh set two goals for himself from the beginning: first, to join the national team, second, to participate in the "Road to Olympia" contest. Unfortunately, both of his dreams failed at the last minute when he only won second prize in the school-level Olympia contest. The selection for the national team was also unsuccessful. Khanh's biggest consolation in grade 12 was that he won first prize in the provincial excellent student contest for grade 12 in History.

Sharing about past competitions, Ngo Sy Quoc Khanh does not blame it on bad luck. On the contrary, each competition he has participated in is a valuable experience, even when it is an experience of failure.

After each competition, I have the opportunity to look back at myself, analyze myself, find out the reasons and find ways to change myself to become better. Moreover, Khanh also knows that "Failure is the mother of success" and I am determined to choose a new competition to conquer the challenge and to affirm my 18-year-old mettle.

18 years old mark

Competition“Youth learn and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style”can be considered a traditional competition ofPhan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. This is also one of the few schools that organizes this competition systematically in the school round to select potential students for support and training. This year, the school round was organized from the beginning of the year and Ngo Sy Quoc Khanh is one of the students with the best results.

Having a good “start”, Khanh still said that to become the best student of Nghe An to participate in the national final round is not easy. Because, in addition to the school round, the weekly rounds, the semi-finals, the whole Nghe An province has more than 100,000 students participating (ranked 2nd nationwide). Meanwhile, each province has only 1 candidate selected.

In addition to the pressure of numbers, Khanh also has her own pressure, because she determined that after many unsuccessful competitions, this is the last competition of grade 12 where she has the opportunity to show herself. The desire to win is something Khanh always thinks about and sets goals for herself.

Accompanying Khanh and the members of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted to participate in this year's competition, teacher Le Kim Long - Civic Education teacher said that what impressed her most about Khanh was his perseverance, will and aspiration. Khanh came to the competition seriously, completing all the requirements set by the teacher.

During the competition, Khanh also shared some difficulties, because this is an online competition. Candidates who complete the test well not only need to answer the questions correctly but also have to act quickly within 10 minutes.

In recent years, to prepare for this contest, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted has built a question bank with thousands of questions. However, this year's contestants encountered many difficulties because, in addition to historical knowledge, there were many questions about President Ho Chi Minh related to philosophy, Marxism-Leninism and Political Economy. This is completely outside the high school curriculum and to answer these questions well, Khanh and the team's homeroom teacher had to study and practice a lot.

With the advantage of a student majoring in History, with the rich knowledge of a male student who participated in the "Road to Olympia" Contest and with a fairly thorough investment, Khanh convincingly reached the national final round and he answered correctly 27/30 questions in the final round.

Although this is not the highest result of the competition and there are still regrets, Khanh said that he is satisfied with himself because he tried his best. He wants to dedicate this victory to his family, the school and the teachers who have guided him over the years. The remaining part, he wants to dedicate to himself, because he finally reached the finish line and had a special mark in the last year of his school years.

Two years of pursuing the Contest "Youth studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", the most important thing is that Khanh learned many simple things from Uncle Ho. And he knows, to achieve success, "Nothing is difficult/Only fear of not being steadfast/Digging mountains and filling seas/Determination will surely lead to success".
