Last week, on his way to work, Mr. Do Thao was stopped and beaten by Tu's group, restrained and taken to a fish shooting game shop in Duong To commune, Phu Quoc district.

Four young men and Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh (from Hai Duong) took turns assaulting, torturing, and forcing Mr. Thao to contact his family to pay 10 million VND that the victim's mother and uncle had borrowed.

While they were not paying attention, Mr. Thao called an acquaintance to report to the police. Dozens of police then rushed in to arrest Tu and 3 accomplices, rescued the victim with a head injury, but Linh quickly escaped. Many knives, swords, iron pipes, etc. were seized.

Initially, Tu's group said that they came from the North to Phu Quoc to work for Linh, looking after the game shop and lending money at high interest rates. The control of Thao to collect debt was directed by this woman.

The incident is under investigation.
