Young man uses sensitive photos and clips to blackmail girlfriend

On April 21, Nghi Loc District Police, Nghe An Province issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue a temporary detention order against La Van Hop (born in 1994), residing in Luc Da Commune, Con Cuong District to investigate and clarify the act."Extortion of property".

Accordingly, around the beginning of 2021, through social networks Facebook and Zalo, La Van Hop used an account named Tran Dinh Phong to proactively get acquainted with Ms. H. residing in Nghi Loc district. During that process, the two developed a romantic relationship and exchanged some sensitive images with each other.

By the end of February 2022, La Van Hop began to have the intention of appropriating Ms. H's property. To carry out his actions, on March 20 and 22, 2022, Hop continuously texted and called Ms. H., threatening to send money to Hop or else he would post sensitive images of Ms. H. on social media and send them to her parents. Out of fear, Ms. H. agreed to send Hop 3 million VND. With the above tricks, La Van Hop repeatedly committed acts of extortion of Ms. H.'s property with a total amount of more than 20 million VND.

After collecting all the information and evidence, at 11:00 p.m. on April 3, 2022, in Dien Lam commune, Dien Chau district, Nghi Loc district police presided over and coordinated with Dien Lam commune police, Dien Chau district to successfully break the case, arresting La Van Hop for the act of "Extortion of property".

At the police station, La Van Hop initially confessed that because he needed money for personal expenses, Hop went online to order a fake citizen identification card and registered a bank account, Zalo, and Facebook all under the name Tran Dinh Phong. After that, Hop used Tran Dinh Phong's Facebook and Zalo accounts to make friends and talk to many women with the purpose of taking sensitive pictures and then defrauding and appropriating property.

The police also seized evidence: 3 mobile phones, 1 citizen identification card, 1 ATM card in the name of Tran Dinh Phong.
