Young man uses fake Zalo and Facebook accounts to scam nearly half a billion dong
Using a junk SIM card to create multiple social network accounts such as Zalo and fake Facebook, Nguyen Thanh Toan defrauded and appropriated about 450 million VND from a woman in Phu Quoc (Kien Giang province).
The Investigation Police Agency of Phu Quoc City Police announced today (October 20) that it has just urgently arrested Nguyen Thanh Toan (28 years old, residing in Duong Dong Ward, Phu Quoc City) to investigate the acts of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and "Extortion of property".

Previously, on October 18, Phu Quoc City Police received a report from Ms. NKL residing in the area about being scammed by Toan.
Through investigation, from April until now, Toan has used phones and junk SIM cards to create many fake social network accounts such as Zalo and Facebook to defraud Ms. L. of about 450 million VND.
On October 19, determining that Toan was hiding in An Giang, Phu Quoc City Police set up a working group to go to the mainland and quickly arrested Toan.
Although he was in hiding, Toan continued to use a fake Facebook account to extort 20 million VND from Ms. L's family.
The case continues to be investigated and clarified.
