Raising awareness of forest environmental services

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 19, in Tuong Duong district, Nghe An Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund coordinated with VFD project to organize a contest to learn about "Forest environmental service payment policy in 2017".

The contest is a competition of 4 teams representing Tam Dinh, Xa Luong, Luong Minh and Yen Na communes (Tuong Duong). The teams were selected from the village communities assigned by the State to manage, protect forests, and provide forest environmental services in the Ban Ve, Khe Bo, Nam Non, Ban Ang Hydropower basins and water source basins in Tuong Duong district.

The contest is one of the activities to propagate the policy of payment for forest environmental services to everyone, especially in mountainous communes. With the aim of mobilizing social resources for forest protection and enhancing the economic value of the forest environment through establishing relationships on forest environmental services; using resources from payment for forest environmental services to improve people's livelihoods...

The policy of payment for forest environmental services is a breakthrough in solving many problems, focusing on three basic issues: environment, economy, and society. Understanding the policy contributes to reducing forest degradation and improving forest quality, increasing the protective capacity of forests, ensuring ecological balance, minimizing climate change, and limiting drought and floods./.
