Capacity building for staff working in social protection
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 30, in Vinh city, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs held a training conference to improve the capacity of grassroots staff in implementing social assistance policies.

At the conference, more than 260 delegates representing social assistance facilities, leaders and officers in charge of social protection work of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of districts, cities, and towns, and policy ministries of communes, wards, and towns were informed about general topics on people with disabilities, including: Concepts of people with disabilities; Skills when implementing contents related to people with disabilities; Professional skills to determine the level of disability; Support for people with disabilities at home and in the community according to life stages.

In addition, the students also discussed and exchanged social assistance policies for social protection beneficiaries and poverty reduction policies in the province such as: Decree No. 20/2021/ND-CP dated March 15, 2021 of the Government regulating social policies for social protection beneficiaries; Resolution No. 30/2021/NQ-HDND dated December 9, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council on regulating social assistance standards, social assistance levels and support policies for a number of social protection beneficiaries in Nghe An province; Programs and Plans to implement policies for the elderly...

The conference contributed to raising awareness, responsibility and capacity for staff working in social protection at all levels, thereby helping delegates grasp social assistance policies and skills, methods and expertise to implement them promptly, fairly, publicly, transparently and in accordance with regulations.
According to the report of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, as of September 30, 2022, the whole province has 152,887 subjects receiving monthly allowances in the community; 859 subjects are being cared for and nurtured at 10 public and non-public social assistance facilities in the province (including children: 401 subjects; lonely elderly: 36 subjects; people with disabilities: 422 subjects).
The management, care and adjustment of care plans for subjects are carried out by social assistance facilities in accordance with procedures and regulations; basically meeting the needs of receiving subjects with difficult circumstances into centers in the province.
