(Baonghean.vn) - The conference was attended by more than 200 delegates including monks, nuns, and Buddhist officials from pagodas and Buddhist chanting halls throughout the province.

On the morning of May 28, the Religious Affairs Committee (Department of Home Affairs) organized a conference to disseminate religious policies and laws to monks, nuns, and Buddhist officials. Attending the conference were representatives of the Provincial Propaganda Department; representatives of the leaders of the Executive Committee of the Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Luu Cong Vinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, Head of the Provincial Religious Committee, hoped that monks, nuns, monks and Buddhist officials would focus on monitoring, studying documents and discussing frankly on related issues to better implement the Law on Belief and Religion; at the same time, promote the responsibility and self-awareness of monks and nuns in implementing the State's policies and laws in the coming time. On that basis, promote the faster and more solid development of Buddhism in the province and continue to contribute to building the homeland and the country.

Attending the conference, 200 delegates who were monks, nuns, priests, and Buddhist officials listened to representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Provincial Religious Affairs Department disseminate 5 topics including: Viewpoints and policies of the Party and State on religion; International, domestic and Nghe An province news; Legal regulations on the management and use of religious land in Nghe An province; Some regulations of the Law on Belief and Religion in the province; Current status of law enforcement by Buddhism in Nghe An; Policies and measures to handle existing problems and difficulties.

Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee affirmed that the organization of a conference by the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Provincial Religious Committee to disseminate policies and laws on religion is extremely necessary for monks, nuns, and Buddhist officials because correct awareness will lead to correct actions, serving well the practice, keeping precepts, and enlightenment. Also at the conference, monks, nuns, and Buddhist officials had their concerns and questions about related issues answered by representatives of the Provincial Religious Committee.

Through the conference, monks, nuns and Buddhists are expected to grasp the guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and the State, including the Law on Belief and Religion; some regulations on religious land records and procedures and related decrees. Thereby, raising awareness of law enforcement, implementing well the regulations on religious activities and the direction of operation of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha "Dharma - Nation - Socialism".

At the same time, actively encourage Buddhists and people of all walks of life to actively participate in labor production, contributing to the successful implementation of the province's socio-economic development tasks.

As of 2019, Nghe An province has 63 legally recognized Buddhist establishments, including 62 pagodas and Buddhist prayer halls; there are over 90 monks, nuns, and monks (including over 30 abbots of pagodas) with about 96,000 followers. Regarding organization, there is a Provincial Buddhist Association Executive Committee with 25 members and 3 district and city-level executive committees, which are the Vinh City Buddhist Sangha and Quynh Luu and Nam Dan districts.
