Enhancing proactiveness in tourism development linkages.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 18th, in Cua Lo Town, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the People's Committee of Cua Lo Town, organized a conference to review one year of implementing the cooperation program to improve the quality of tourist destinations and build a cultural tourism environment between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committees of Vinh City, Cua Lo Town, and Nam Dan District for the period 2013-2015. Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, attended and directed the conference.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Thi Le Thanh requested that all relevant parties be more proactive in implementing the coordination program.

The program to improve the quality of tourist destinations and build a cultural tourism environment between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committees of Vinh City, Cua Lo Town, and Nam Dan District for the period 2013-2015 was signed in mid-November 2013. After one year of implementation, the Vinh - Nam Dan - Cua Lo tourist route has initially developed several attractions such as Duc Son Pagoda (Nam Dan), boat tours of Ngu Island, and Hai Giang I fish sauce village (Cua Lo Town)... The Nghe An tourism website is now linked with the websites of the three localities and regularly prioritizes and promotes cultural events, tourism, and festivals of the three localities.

In addition, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the three localities have successfully coordinated the organization of cultural and tourism events such as the Cua Lo Tourism Festival, the King Mai Temple Festival, the Quang Trung Temple Festival, the Lang Sen Festival in 2014, the Nghe Tinh Folk Song Festival, etc.; and regularly coordinated inspections and monitoring of compliance with regulations on maintaining social order, ensuring environmental hygiene, and regulations on price and fee management for services at tourism businesses.

Despite the achievements, the implementation of the cooperation program still faces some limitations, such as: localities are still not proactive and lack enthusiasm in collaborative activities; tourism products in localities remain monotonous, lacking unique new products to attract tourists; and the planning of locations for showcasing local products and specialties has not yet been implemented…

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented the preliminary report.

At the conference, delegates offered suggestions for effectively implementing the coordination program, such as: further enhancing the leading role and oversight of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; closely coordinating and supporting tourism businesses in linking and developing inter-regional tourism tours; building a tourism culture among the people; and developing tourism along the Lam River…

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chau, Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee, believes that it is necessary to promote the development of tourism culture among the people.

Ms. Le Thi Hang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Dan District, expressed her desire for better utilization of the Lam River waterfront road in tourism development.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo Town, suggested that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism should enhance its leading and supervisory role in coordinating the program.

In her remarks at the conference, in addition to acknowledging the efforts of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in implementing the coordination program, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Thi Le Thanh requested that relevant parties further enhance their proactiveness in coordination; develop specific coordination plans, clearly defining the specific tasks to be done each year; and accelerate the planning of destinations to showcase local specialty products…
