Hamlet 2, Khanh Son Commune (Nam Dan) has 50 households growing lemons on an area of about 1 hectare. This year's lemon season, prices are high so people have a good income from growing lemons.
From February until now, we have been harvesting lemons, with a selling price of 35,000 VND - 37,000 VND/kg in the garden, each sao brings in an income of 10-12 million VND/sao. It is forecasted that in the near future, the price of lemons will increase further because currently in the gardens, the quantity of lemons left is very small, while the market demand increases during the hot season."
The entire Nam Dan district currently has 624 hectares of lemons, mainly concentrated in Nam Kim (200 hectares), Khanh Son and scattered in Nam Tan, Nam Loc, Nam Anh... With a yield of 3-5 quintals of lemons/sao, people have a significant income from lemons.

Ms. Ha Thi Hue, a farmer in Nam Kim commune, said: “My family has more than 3 sao of hilly land growing lemons. During the main lemon season, the yield is higher but the price is low, sometimes selling for 3,000 VND - 5,000 VND/kg but still no one buys. During the lemon season, each sao brings in 12-15 million VND, traders come to buy directly from the garden.”
According to a survey at local markets in the province, the price of lemons has remained high for the past few months, ranging from 40,000 - 50,000 VND/kg (basic type) and 60,000 VND/kg (pretty type). Ms. Vuong Thi Thuy, a trader at Hung Nguyen town market, said: "The price of lemons is high, so I only buy enough to sell for the day, I don't dare to buy too much because it's difficult to preserve and there will be loss. In the hot season, the demand for lemons increases, and it's off-season, so the price is expensive, sometimes the price of lemons is up to 60,000 VND/kg, each fruit is sold for 3,000 - 5,000 VND".

Retail vegetable stall owners in the markets said that the amount of lemons sold was also limited compared to previous days due to the high price of lemons. Instead, they sold green kumquats to replace lemons.
Traders said that the major lemon growing areas in the province such as Nam Kim, Khanh Son, Nam Loc (Nam Dan), Hung Yen Nam, Hung Yen Bac, Hung Trung (Hung Nguyen), Nghi Cong Bac, Nghi Cong Nam, Nghi Lam (Nghi Loc) ... are quite scarce, not enough to supply the market, purchasing is quite difficult. In the markets, local lemons account for a small number, most of them are from the South.
