Prolonged heatwave causes Lam River water levels to drop.

(Baonghean.vn) - The prolonged heatwave has caused many sections of the Lam River in Thanh Chuong and Nam Dan districts to dry up, revealing wide stretches of sand. People can even walk from one bank to the other.

Prolonged periods of hot weather have caused many sections of the Lam River to dry up. In some sections passing through Thanh Chuong and Nam Dan districts, large stretches of sandbanks are even visible in the middle of the river. People are now freely walking along the riverbed.

At several points, such as at Ro Bridge (Vo Liet commune) and Phuong ferry terminal (Thanh Giang commune) in Thanh Chuong district, the Lam River appears to be a "dead river." A vast sandbar in the middle of the river is clearly visible. Only along the banks on either side is there a small stream of water.

Near the foot of the Rộ bridge in Thanh Chương district, more than fifty fishing families live together, making a living. The intense heat has caused the riverbed to dry up, and the fishermen struggle to make ends meet.

Images show the Lam River drying up due to the heatwave:
