NATO is considering a new structure to support Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said NATO is looking into the possibility of creating a new structure to provide support to Ukraine.

According to RT on May 28, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO is considering the possibility of creating a new structure to provide support to Ukraine.
"We need a stronger institutionalized structure to support Ukraine. Short-term initiatives are good, but in the long term we need to provide Ukraine with stronger and more predictable support," Secretary General Stoltenberg said at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Bulgaria.
NATO Secretary General added that the Commander-in-Chief of NATO Allied Forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, has put forward practical proposals for the creation of such a structure. The budget has not yet been agreed, but Stoltenberg had previously stated the need to create a NATO military fund for Ukraine in the amount of $ 100 billion.
Secretary General Stoltenberg also made it clear that NATO's role needs to be strengthened in organizing the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"I hope that at the Washington summit we will agree on a stronger NATO role in terms of organization, support, planning and distribution of funding to ensure a more stable flow of aid to Ukraine," Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
On this issue, Mr. Stoltenberg emphasized that NATO "will need a longer-term commitment in terms of financial resources" to support Ukraine. "I hope that allies will be able to agree on multi-year financial commitments," he said.
In his speech at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Mr. Stoltenberg also mentioned restrictions on the supply of weapons and ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In particular, the NATO Secretary General reiterated that, except for Germany, no NATO member responded to Kiev's request to increase the supply of air defense systems and the EU failed to fulfill its promise to deliver 1 million rounds of ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces within 1 year.
Observers say that a new support structure for Ukraine is being formed to shift the main burden from the US to EU countries in providing aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition, the creation of the new structure is also a "reassurance" of the West in case Mr. Donald Trump is re-elected as US President in a new term.
