NATO suggests to Russia to eliminate 9M729 missile to 'save' INF Treaty
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has suggested that Russia should eliminate its 9M729 missile in the short term. This would help save the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, the head of the North Atlantic Alliance said.

NATO officials have repeatedly stated that the 9M729 missile allegedly violates the INF. The Russian government has denied these allegations. Moscow has stated that the missile was not developed and was not tested for distances exceeding the established limits.
According to Mr. Stoltenberg, in 1987, Russia only needed a few weeks to destroy cruise missiles and medium-range missiles. NATO Secretary General said that "Moscow can do this even now if it wants to comply with the treaty."
