The day before, two NATO ships, the British Royal Navy destroyer HMS Duncan and the Turkish frigate Gaziantep, entered the Black Sea.
"This is a blatant provocation, any action by NATO warships in the Black Sea is a show of force," said Mr. Belik, adding that this action is mainly aimed at convincing European and American voters that NATO is the "lord of the sea", and that the Russians should be afraid and accept it.
He expressed confidence that "in fact NATO generals are well aware that Russia will not be intimidated by all provocations".
“This could add to the lack of confidence and once again convince of the need for a modern army and navy,” he added.
