On March 23, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) confirmed its plan to build a warehouse to store US military equipment in Poland to strengthen defense in the face of Russia's increasingly assertiveness.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the $260 billion military equipment storage facility will be built in Powidz, 200km west of Warsaw, and will house armored vehicles, ammunition and weapons for a brigade.
Construction is expected to begin later this year and take two years to complete.
NATO has had to strengthen its defenses along its eastern coast after Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula and sparked the current conflict with Ukraine./.
