With the traditional beauty and humanistic meaning of the wood breaking ceremony, from the 4th to the 10th of January, all carpentry workshop owners in the fine art carpentry villages in Quynh Luu district choose a good day that suits the homeowner's age, then gather workers and laborers to organize a thoughtful and sincere wood breaking ceremony.

After the tree-breaking ceremony, workers have a break and enjoy spring until the end of January, and only start full-scale production in February.

Mr. Ngo Van Loi - Head of the Quynh Hung Commune Fine Art Carpentry Village said: To commemorate the merits of the ancestors who founded the village, in the first days of the new year from the 4th to the 10th of January, hundreds of fine art carpentry processing establishments in Quynh Hung Commune are bustling to prepare for the New Year's wood-breaking ceremony.

The wood-breaking ceremony is divided into two parts with a tray of fruit, betel, wine, etc. offered to the ancestors of the profession at home or at the carpentry workshop. Then, the carpenters, carvers, sawmill workers, and workers all gather at the workshop to perform the wood-breaking ceremony to bring good luck at the beginning of the new year, praying for a smooth business and many orders during the year.

Established in the 19th century, Thuan Giang and Nam Thang fine art carpentry villages in Quynh Hung commune are one of the long-standing traditional carpentry villages in Quynh. This place has trained many talented artisans, built beautiful wooden architectural works in temples and pagodas, contributing to the Quynh Hung fine art carpentry brand.

After being recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a traditional fine art carpentry village in 2012, with the attention of the district, the locality has had preferential policies to develop carpentry with more than 300 households participating in the profession, creating jobs for nearly 2,000 workers with an income of 5 to 7 million VND/month./.
