If Mr. Trump wins the 2024 presidential election, it could lead to the US withdrawing from NATO.
(Baonghean.vn) - The New York Times pointed out that most European countries are uncertain about choosing a viable path in case the former US President wins the presidential election.

Russia's TASS news agency on December 10 quoted the New York Times as reporting that the possibility of former US President Donald Trump winning the 2024 US presidential election could lead to the country's withdrawal from NATO.
According to the US daily, many diplomats as well as governments of NATO member countries have previously warned that "Mr. Trump's return would not only mean abandoning Ukraine but more broadly, a withdrawal of the US from this continent and from the Atlantic alliance."
“There is great concern in Europe that a second Trump presidency would result in the United States effectively withdrawing from NATO,” the paper quoted retired Navy Admiral James Stavridis, who served as NATO’s supreme allied commander from 2009 to 2013, as saying. “That would be a huge strategic and historical defeat for our country.”
The New York Times points out that most European countries are uncertain about choosing a viable path in the event of Mr. Trump winning the U.S. presidential election. The newspaper said that smaller countries “are expected to try to win Mr. Trump’s good graces by increasing American arms orders or… by performing major acts of flattery…”
The US will hold a presidential election in November 2024. On April 25, the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden, announced his re-election bid. Mr. Trump also announced his presidential bid in November 2022.
