Delegate Nguyen Ngoc Phuong said that if officials "fixed" scores for their children in the cheating scandal at the national high school exam, they must be prosecuted.

The hot spot in Son La once again received special attention from public opinion, social networks shared a list of candidates whose scores were increased, many of whose parents are officials of several agencies of Son La province.

In Son La province alone, 21 out of 44 candidates are children of officials, civil servants, and public employees whose scores were increased. Notably, among the parents whose names were exposed are officials, police officers, and heads of many agencies in Son La province.

In Hoa Binh, most of the candidates whose scores were increased were children of local officials.

However, some parents whose children's scores were raised in the press emphasized: "I don't know"; "I didn't intervene...".

Discussing this issue, delegate Nguyen Ngoc Phuong - Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Social Affairs emphasized that detecting cheating in the 2018 National High School Exam is extremely important.

"Therefore, investigation, transparency, clear responsibility of related individuals and final handling will regain people's trust.

"We must verify the violations of each person and each subject in this exam scandal," delegate Phuong expressed his opinion.

According to the delegate, the investigation agency will clarify whether the person whose child's score was increased did he or she run to increase the score?

"If you run, you will be prosecuted, not just lose your position and power," said a member of the National Assembly's Committee on Social Affairs.

In the second case, if the person whose child's score was increased does not intervene, but the person who changed the score flatters the superior leader and does it on his own, then it must also be considered for appropriate handling.

“Now we must clearly determine who raised the scores? Was it the parents’ intervention or did the person who changed the scores do it out of flattery to the parents? Responsibility for all must be clarified,” delegate Phuong emphasized.

Regarding the fact that the authorities have not officially disclosed the identities of candidates and parents whose children cheated on exam scores, delegate Nguyen Ngoc Phuong said that it is necessary to disclose them.

According to the delegate, publicity is to create trust for the people, publicity is to prevent others from violating, publicity is to be transparent in law enforcement.

“Therefore, it must be made public and cannot be hidden forever. And up to this moment, through the mass media, who the candidates were whose scores were raised and whose children are almost all exposed,” said delegate Phuong.

In the 2018 National High School Exam, three localities, Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, and Son La, had exam score fraud.

Police determined that 114 candidates in Ha Giang had their scores increased and their real scores returned before the 2018 university and college admissions season.

For the remaining two localities, Hoa Binh and Son La, it will be March 2019 before the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education and Training conclude their investigation and announce the assessment scores.

As a result, 64 candidates in Hoa Binh and 44 candidates in Son La had their scores raised.

Up to this point, 16 officials involved in exam violations in Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, and Son La have been prosecuted and detained.
