Russia and India have officially signed the S-400 contract and the payment will be in rubles despite US threats, according to Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov.
"The contract to purchase five battalions of S-400 high-altitude air defense missiles signed by Russia and India is worth over $5 billion but will be paid in Russian rubles," Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said at a press conference on October 31.

To make this deal successful, India has defied the US threat of sanctions for daring to buy Russian weapons. However, according to some experts, it is very unlikely that the US will apply sanctions against New Delhi.
Right before signing the S-400 Triumph purchase contract worth 5.43 billion USD, India also shocked the US when it negotiated a huge contract worth up to 4.5 billion USD to buy 1,700 new generation T-14 Armata tanks from Russia, to replace thousands of its T-72 tanks.
Currently, India is the largest buyer of Russian weapons and its military mainly uses modern Russian weapons and equipment (90%), of which combat weapons are almost all produced in joint ventures with India.
