Nghen intersection - where many large protests took place

Nghen intersection is the meeting point of QHighway 1Aand the inter-commune road from Can Loc district through Khanh Loc to Dong Loc, Trung Loc. This is the center of relics in a locality rich in patriotic and revolutionary traditions. In the past, Nghen intersection belonged to Trao Nha village, after the revolution it was renamed Dai Loc, Can Loc district. Since 1984, a part of Dai Loc commune was separated into Nghen town.

From May 1930 to July 1931, Nghen intersection was the site of many large demonstrations. Can Loc district had more than 40 demonstrations at the district and commune levels with thousands of participants. On August 1, 1930, the masses of Ha Can and Thuong Can divided into many directions and marched to the district office, shouting slogans:
- Overthrow imperialism and feudal Southern Dynasties.
- Reduce taxes to support Soviet Russia.
Faced with such a strong momentum, the district chief Tran Manh Dan had to go all the way to Nghen bridge to sign the petition, but it was not implemented. On the morning of September 7, 1930, more than 2,000 farmers from Ha Can region marched back to the district capital. This time, the district chief and his officials fled, and the group stormed into the district office, destroying and burning documents.
On December 12, 1930, more than 5,000 people from all over the district carried many banners and slogans and marched to the district office to protest against repression and terror, demanding tax reduction and the implementation of civil and democratic rights. The soldiers opened fire on the group.protestkilled 42 people and injured hundreds.
Many revolutionary cadres heroically sacrificed their lives, such as: Vo Que, Pham Thi Dung, Phan Can, Ho Ngoc Tang, Thanh Son, Nguyen Nhan...
Nghen Intersection is located on Highway 1A, about 300m from Nghen Bridge, so during the war of destruction, the US dropped nearly 17,000 bombs of various types and thousands of artillery shells and rockets on this area. The air defense units of the militia and local troops fought bravely and shot down 3 enemy planes.
The relic at Nghen intersection is currently being invested in to build a large-scale and magnificent 30-31 movement memorial site./.
