Russia arrests 11 suspects, including 4 gunmen directly involved in terrorist attack
(Baonghean.vn) - Director of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Alexander Bortnikov reported to President Vladimir Putin about the arrest of terrorists involved in the attack on the Crocus City complex.
According to Ria Novosti on March 23, the Kremlin said that the FSB Director reported to President Vladimir Putin about the arrest of 11 suspects, including 4 suspects directly involved in the terrorist attack on the Crocus City shopping and entertainment complex, on the outskirts of Moscow.
According to the Russian intelligence agency, four suspects were detained in the Bryansk region, just a few kilometers from the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. After carrying out the terrorist attack, they tried to escape by car and crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border. The terrorists are believed to have contacts in Ukraine and used weapons prepared in advance in a stockpile. They are currently being escorted to Moscow, and the search for their accomplices continues.
Also on March 23, regarding the terrorist attack, Russian President Putin had a phone call with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The leaders affirmed their readiness to cooperate in the fight against terrorism.
On the evening of March 22, a group of armed men stormed the theater area in the Crocus City complex, in Krasnogorsk, a city in the northwest of Moscow, about 20km from the Kremlin. The attackers were traveling in a white car, carrying rifles, grenades and smoke bombs.
The theater has a capacity of about 6,000 people. The attack happened just minutes before the musical performance began. The shooting left 93 people dead and nearly 187 injured.
This is one of the most serious terrorist attacks in Russia in recent years.
