Asked about proposals from some Arab countries to join the conflict in Syria under US command, Mr. Medvedev stressed that "this is bad news because launching ground attacks often leads to protracted wars," according to AFP.
“The Americans and our Arab partners need to think carefully about this: Do they want a protracted war?” Mr. Medvedev said in an interview with the German daily Handelsblatt. “Do you really think that you can win such a war quickly? That is impossible.”
According to him, all parties need to sit at the negotiating table instead of igniting "a new world war". Any direct intervention from outside forces on behalf of the Syrian opposition will only make the violence worse./.
