Russia accuses the US of being responsible for the collapse of the world security system
(Baonghean.vn) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that today, just like during the Caribbean crisis, the US does not want to take into account Russia's concerns.

"Considering the similarities between the Caribbean crisis and the current aggravation of relations between Russia and the United States, both cases demonstrate Washington's anti-constructive approach to international security and strategic stability, namely, its attempts to gain military-strategic superiority. The goal is the same - by all means for the United States to achieve global dominance," Ryabkov said.
According to Mr. Ryabkov, the main problem stems from Washington's behavior, which is "its unwillingness to recognize the right of other countries to protect their vital interests."
"That is precisely the root cause of the current crisis around Ukraine. Accordingly, the similarity with the Caribbean crisis may lie in the fact that neither in the early 1960s nor now Washington attaches importance to taking into account the legitimate concerns of our country regarding direct threats to national security," the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister added.
He recalled that six decades ago, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev and US President John F. Kennedy "were wise enough to avoid being pushed to the brink of using nuclear weapons."
At that time, Washington gave guarantees not to attack Cuba and withdrew US Jupiter missiles from Turkish territory, while Moscow withdrew Soviet missiles that had been brought to "Freedom Island".
