Russia is providing $1 billion to build a nuclear power plant in Vietnam.
According to Voice of Russia, on January 21, Valery Lukyanenko, a member of the board of directors of VTB Bank, Russia's second-largest bank, told reporters that VTB is ready to provide parts of the Rosatom Group with $1 billion to build a nuclear power plant in Vietnam.

Mr. Lukyanenko said: "We are ready to support 'Rosenergoatom' which is currently involved in this project... We announced last week that we are ready to disburse approximately $1 billion."
The estimated cost for the construction of Vietnam's first nuclear power plant is around $10 billion.
According to Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Moscow will provide a government loan for the construction of the power plant.
The contract will be executed by Atomstroyexport Joint Stock Company.
The design phase for Vietnam's first nuclear power plant is expected to begin this year.
