Russia builds heavy attack robot complex Shturm for urban combat
The Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation (UVZ) has begun creating the first prototypes of the Shturm heavy attack robotic complex, which includes a combat vehicle with a shorter-barreled 125 mm gun. The weapon is designed for urban combat, the defense industry complex said.

“At Uralvagonzavod, the first prototypes of the Shturm (Shock) heavy assault robotic complex, primarily intended for combat operations in cities, have been created. In particular, a mobile control station is being created, as well as the vehicles themselves with various combat modules, including a module with a 125-mm smoothbore shotgun. All vehicles of the complex are built on the chassis of the T-72B3 tank,” a source said.
According to the second source, other variants of the complex's combat module will include the following weapons: the Shmel rocket launcher, a 30-mm coupled automatic cannon and a 220-mm thermobaric unguided rocket unit. The source added that the Shturm combat vehicles "will have a high level of protection against anti-tank weapons, including upper hemisphere ones."
“A short barrel with minimal deflection exceeding the dimensions of the combat vehicle will give Shturm good maneuverability and effectiveness in tight urban areas,” the source said.
The main purpose of the Shturm complex is to identify and suppress long-range firing points, destroying enemy manpower, mainly anti-tank crews, which pose a particular danger to armored vehicles in the city./.
