Russia criticizes US for “immorality” in withdrawing from UN human rights council
(Baonghean.vn) - Russia believes that the US withdrawal from the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council reflects Washington's unilateral approach to global issues.

In a statement, the Russian mission to the UN stressed that the US had attempted but failed to turn the Council into “a docile instrument to promote its interests and punish countries it does not like”.
The statement also said that the US criticism of the UN Human Rights Council for not making changes as proposed by Washington seemed to be a “cynical” move. The Russian mission described the Council as “an important international platform for cooperation in protecting human rights.”
Earlier, on June 19, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley announced the country's decision to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council, saying that the UN Human Rights Council has a biased view against Israel. Ms. Haley said that this body includes parties that abuse human rights, such as China, Cuba, Venezuela and Congo.
