Russia officially unveils logo for 2018 World Cup.

On October 29th, Russia officially unveiled the logo for the 2018 World Cup. The logo combines images of Russia's space flight, traditional Russian religious painting techniques, and the world's passion for football.

Attending the unveiling of the 2018 World Cup logo were FIFA President Sepp Blatter, former captain of the 2006 World Cup-winning Italy team Fabio Cannavaro, and Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko.

According to the 2018 World Cup organizers, the logo design was inspired by "Russia's renowned artistic traditions, history of achievements and innovations," and the first space flight of a Soviet-era cosmonaut served as the main inspiration for the logo designer.

The 2018 World Cup logo mimics the legendary Golden Trophy and uses four main colors: red, yellow, black, and blue. The mythical globe at the top of the logo represents the love of football felt by people all over the world.

According to FIFA President Sepp Blatter, the 2018 World Cup emblem not only embodies the spirit and heart of the Russian people, but also reflects the unique culture of "the Land of the White Birch."

The draw for the 2018 World Cup qualifying matches will take place on July 25, 2015 in St. Petersburg, and the tournament mascot will be unveiled in 2016. The 2018 World Cup will be held in 12 stadiums across 11 cities in the Russian Federation.
