Russia prepares 'punishment' campaign in retaliation for helicopter downing
Russia may respond to the downing of the Mi-25 helicopter in Syria by involving the cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov" in the "Sanctions" operation, along with carrier-based aircraft and increasing the number of airstrikes by fighter jets from the Hmeymim base, the "Kommersant" newspaper said.

A Russian Mi-25 helicopter was recently shot down in Syria. |
According to the newspaper, Russia has two options to respond to the downing of the plane that killed the crew. The first option is to increase the number of air strikes many times over and use precision weapons (cruise missiles "Calibr-NK").
The second option involves the participation of the cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov" in the "Sanctions" operation. At the end of August, "Admiral Kuznetsov" can strike the territory of Syria in case of receiving the order from the General Staff.
As reported, it is expected that the Admiral Kuznetsov ship with its aircraft will be used in Syria from October.
