According to Deputy Director of the Russian FSMTC Mikhail Petukhov, Russia has begun transferring T-90s to Vietnam, including the command tank version.
The statement was made by this leader while attending the Defense & Security Exhibition, in the first batch that Russia delivered to Vietnamese customers, there were both T-90S and T-90SK versions.
"As a result of a series of negotiations between Russian and Vietnamese experts, a contract for the supply of T-90S and T-90SK tanks was signed. Currently, the parties have begun implementing the contract," Mr. Petukhov revealed.
Previously, in the annual report recently published by "Uralvagonzavod" it was determined that in 2017 it was necessary to start the process of implementing the contract with customer "704" (Vietnam) on the supply of 64 T-90S/SK tanks.

It is known that right before Russia publicly announced the transfer of the T-90S/SK tank batch to Vietnam, Vietnamese armored tank officers were trained on T-90s in India.
This program is implemented under the Vietnam - India intergovernmental cooperation agreement and the two countries' Defense Ministries. Currently, the Indian Army Armored Engineering School has been supporting training for the Vietnam People's Army. With impressive academic achievements, the young Vietnamese officers have made the School very satisfied.
The school's principal - Brigadier General Bhanot happily said that the students, who are young officers of the Vietnam People's Army studying at the school, have good practical knowledge, decisive combat command, and meet the training requirements.
India's training of armored tank officers for Vietnam not only helps Vietnamese officers gain access to many new and modern weapons and equipment that may be equipped in the future, but also shares practical combat experience and technical assurance experience.
According to information revealed by Interfax-AVN, the two versions of the T-90 Russia sold to Vietnam include a command tank. Both versions of the Russian sold to Vietnam possess superior features that even the American Abrams main battle tank is inferior.
According to this assessment, the T-90S has many advantages when compared to the Abrams such as being 10 tons lighter, high flexibility... In particular, the biggest advantage of this batch of T-90 tanks is that it possesses the world's leading multi-layered armor and defense system.
The first is the TShU-1-7 Shtora-1. This system has the effect of interfering with the semi-automatic aiming control of the guidance system mounted on anti-tank missiles. Next is the system that interferes with laser detectors and enemy target designators through sensors, OTShU-1-7 interference lights and 12 smoke grenade launchers...
Along with the excellent defense system is the impressive firepower system of the T-90S with the main weapon being the 125 mm 2A46 smoothbore gun with an automatic loading system with 22 ready bullets.
In addition to standard ammunition, the T-90S can also launch AT-11 Sniper anti-tank missiles through the barrel to destroy enemies from a distance of up to 5,000 m, targets including tanks with explosive reactive armor and low-flying helicopters.
To ensure the most effective operation of the defense and attack systems on the battlefield, the T-90S tank is equipped with a fire control system with day-night sights, stabilizers and thermal imaging sights to enhance its ability to operate at night and in bad weather conditions.
Along with that is a complex composite armor system with explosive reactive armor... All of this state-of-the-art equipment creates a line of tanks with the leading attack and defense power today, Russian news agency commented.
