The Russian Defense Ministry has declassified documents for the anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

The official website of the Russian Ministry of Defense has a section that publishes historical information about military units and tells about feats and heroes.

It should be noted that from the declassified documents, viewers will be able to learn about the goals and tasks of the Soviet army in Afghanistan, about the capture of important documents, large depots of weapons and ammunition, as well as about the awards of officers and soldiers who performed outstanding feats.

Among the published documents are lists of awards and honorary titles awarded to soldiers and units, historical evidence of how contacts were established between Soviet soldiers and civilians in Afghanistan. The documents of the 149th Motor Rifle Regiment describe cases of transferring Belarusian tractors repaired by soldiers to residents of a village, as well as gifts to Afghan children from members and students of the Tashkent Youth Palace.

On February 15, 1989, the Soviet Union completed its withdrawal from Afghanistan. This event ended the Afghan war.
