Russia releases video of captured IS militants hiding in Moscow
Russian security forces seized many weapons and explosive devices when raiding the residence of IS loyalists inMoscow.
On October 2, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) released a video of the arrest of all members of a "unit" of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) organization operating secretly in the Moscow region, according to Sputnik.
Russian police said the group of militants used the cover of night guards at a construction site north of Moscow and planned to carry out terrorist attacks targeting crowded places and important transport infrastructure in the Russian capital.
Video shows FSB agents discovering weapons and explosive devices while searching the militants' hideout near the construction site where they were "working".The FSB representative said that most of the arrested militants were from the Caucasus region who had sworn allegiance to IS, but did not disclose further details.
In mid-month, the FSB also announced the dismantling of an IS cell consisting of a Russian citizen and three people from Central Asian countries plotting to carry out a series of explosions at major shopping centers in Moscow.
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office recently said that more than 4,000 Russian citizens, mostly from predominantly Muslim regions, are fighting for IS militants in Syria.
