Along with a similar sonar-like underwater protection system, Russia has also just unveiled a defense system that can stop any air attack on the Kerch bridge.

The defense measures for the Kerch bridge were put forward by Russia when Ukraine repeatedly announced that it would destroy the bridge connecting the Crimean peninsula with Russian territory.

According to Lieutenant General, former Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force in charge of Russian defense system issues, Mr. Aitech Bizhev, Ukraine does not have the ability to destroy the Crimea bridge due to the Russian defense network deployed.

"Currently, this bridge is tightly protected both from the sea and from the air. We have a force of fighter jets and missile defense systems, such as the S-300 and S-400 complexes, capable of repelling attacks from the Ukrainian army," the general said.

He also added that before starting construction of this bridge, security issues were carefully considered, including the possibility of provocation from Ukraine during the bridge construction process.

"In fact, during the construction process, they did not encounter any provocative actions, except that Ukraine spoke out against this action.

In the process of building forces from the air, sea and even submarines, constant monitoring and surveillance of the situation is intensified. As soon as strange targets are detected approaching, they will be immediately destroyed.

"If any threats to the Crimea bridge appear, these forces will coordinate together and resolve them. We must strengthen the protection of this bridge with all our forces," he stressed.

Before announcing the measures to protect the Kerch bridge from the air, Russia also decided to deploy state-of-the-art underwater defense measures. According to the information revealed, the sonar system protecting the Kerch bridge will operate similarly to the passive sonar in the Navy.

A complete system consists of 360 antennas. However, this source did not say how many sonar systems Russia deployed to protect the Kerch bridge. The information collected by this system will be displayed on the screen and about every 5 minutes, the staff must report the situation to the control center once.

This system captures the sound of enemy ship propellers. Through the analysis system and experience of sonar staff, it is possible to know what type of ship the target is, its direction, and its speed.... From there, appropriate countermeasures can be taken.
